Print by Floyd E. Newsum, Jr., the son of one of Memphis first African American firefighters. This beautiful print honors the first 12 African-American fire fighters in Memphis, who were hired in 1955 and assigned to Engine Company No. 8 in south Memphis. It depicts an engine parked in front of old Fire Station 8 on Mississippi Boulevard and includes each of the 12 pioneers; 17 1/2 X 20 3/4.
