LAST ALARM: Lt. Rodney Eddins, 30 year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department, died on April 17, 2016 during overhaul procedures after fighting a house fire at 4513 Marigold. Lt. Eddins, 57 yoa, collapsed in the interior of the home. Memphis Firefighters treated and transported Lt. Eddins in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased. The alarm was received at 11:34 PM on April 16 and brought under control at 11:48 PM. A community of firefighters from several states attended Lt. Eddins funeral services, Friday, April 22, 2016. He was laid to rest in West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Lt. Eddins was an eight year veteran of the Air Force before becoming a Memphis Firefighter in 1986. The Fire Museum of Memphis mourns with the Memphis Fire Department and Memphis and Mid-South Community.


The Fire Museum of Memphis has launched a fundraising campaign that includes a new commemorative brick program. The Fire Museum has begun selling engraved bricks that will be placed in the courtyard of the museum. The bricks can recognize an active or former firefighter, or they can be purchased as a memorial or honorarium.   • Two Great Causes in One:  The ServiceMaster/Fire Museum of Memphis Golf Classic is a stop on the Collegiate Players Tour; an amateur tournament designed to provide an affordable, convenient and fun summer golf competition for college age men and women.  This is your opportunity to play with these fine college players and help the Fire Museum of Memphis at the same time!  Participants will play a day of golf at Memphis National Golf Club (http://www/memphisnational.com/) one of the area’s premier courses.  Registration begins at 10:30 AM.  Shotgun start at 12:15 PM.  Gift bags, door prizes and lunch will be provided, as well as dinner and awards at the end of the day.
